Both the 30 mile and 100K ride are challenging. We didn’t set out to make the courses easy or hard; bottom line, this is beautiful Decatur County and we have hills. The 100K (64.4 miles to be exact) goes through two areas whose names themselves are dead give-a-ways; Mt. Carmel and Mt. Lebanon. Hopefully you will enjoy the scenery of the hills, wildlife and Tennessee River so much that you’ll forget about the extra effort and just have a blast. So while we have openly admitted that we are not the Clarksville Sunrise Century, the rides do have a good mix of flats and gentle rolling hills. We have made every effort to make the rides as safe as possible, but since this is our first year we are sure that we and you will see things which can be improved going forward. Our turns will use three markings; a turn warning, the turn and a confirmation marking on the straight. On turns where the road continues on, we will be using “Critical Turn” signs to further confirm. Our Family Cruiser Ride will offer another option for cyclists at any level to enjoy the day with a 10 mile ride through and around the city of Parsons; and by-the-way Parsons is pretty flat. All the rides will start and end at the Parsons Municipal Building which will be at the heart of the Peavine Arts and Crafts Festival so there will be plenty of entertainment and food to enjoy if you choose to hang around with us for the day. We hope you will join us and start a “Pedal the Peavine” September tradition here in Decatur County. |
